It seems Google is quite busy in the last couple of weeks. After allowing nested labels with Gmail and then Google Docs being re-designed with new functionality it has rolled out a new feature with Gmail which allows the user to drag and drop attachments into an email being composed.

I have included a short video on how exactly you can drag and drop attachments from your desktop to Gmail on your browser.

Why is this feature important?

I know you might think that this feature is just another feature but actually when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Many people usually store their important and very accessible files on the desktop. This means most times people attach files from the desktop, so drag and drop feature will be very handy.
I guess this sort of interface was needed considering Gmail will look to be more relevant to tablet pcs like iPad and others that will soon hit the markets. Drag and drop interface with touch screen is a must I guess.
Finally it also might end up hitting another nail in the coffin in which lies a software called Email client.

More and more people have stopped using Email clients like Outlook express because of high speed connectivity and also the massive amount of storage space available on Gmail and other email services.

Transform Mozilla Firefox into Google Chrome

Google Chrome is one of the best browsers I have used till now after Firefox. The browsing experience, the security and interface is excellent in Google Chrome but the only problem is that it crashes when you sometimes when you open too many tabs. And when it comes to handling tabs, Firefox is the best option. But I simply loved Google Chrome interface and wanted to find something that can change the look of Firefox into Chrome.

You can change the interface in Firefox to just like Google Chrome. I found an add-on, Chromifox Extreme, which transforms Firefox into Google Chrome. Just follow the steps below and you will be able to transform Firefox into Google Chrome.

1. Download and Install Chromifox Extreme.

2. Once installed, it will ask you to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

3. And Voila! You transformed Mozilla Firefox into Google chrome. It will have the same interface as Google Chrome, even the tabs, the address bar etc.

Sync Your Google Reader to the Desktop : Scoop

All geeks want to stay updated with latest news and technologies and the best way to be updated is reading the RSS feeds through Google Reader. I explored a desktop client for Google Reader that is Scoop. It is having quite a good layout, easy to use and allows me to read and sync feeds with my Google Reader account.

It is a product of Adobe Air, so you don't have to worry about the quality of product. Scoop comes with lots of features like:

You can create multiple Google Reader profiles to sync from.
Use in offline mode, Scoop will cache your read stories and sync when you go online.
Instant notifications of breaking news.
Allows two way synchronization.
Set the time duration between consecutive syncs.

Once you have installed Scoop, just add your Google Reader Account to your profile.

It will easily synchronize with your Google Reader account.

For adding a new RSS feed just click on RSS icon and give the URL of the blog and you will start getting all the feeds from that blog.

Just click on the RSS feeds and you will get all the stories in the form of tree list.

It's fun to use Scoop. Read, star, delete or add stories in Google Reader with the help of Scoop and it will directly synchronize to your Google Reader account.
