Too Many Tabs: Manage tabs easily in Google Chrome

Posted: 21 Mar 2010 06:04 AM PDT

Many people shifted to Google Chrome after the launch of the new version with support for extensions. The new Google Chrome is much faster, safer and with the support for extensions, it can really speed up different tasks.

But one problem which was present before as well was proper tabs management. If you open too many tabs, it will hog your system resources and will slow down your PC. Other than that, as the number of opened tabs increases, it becomes difficult to find the right tab which you want to see, you can't even see the favicons properly. I found an excellent extension, TooMany Tabs for Chrome, which enables users to manage tabs and improve browsing with many tabs opened.

1. Once installed, you will notice that a new icon has appeared in Google Chrome, right next to address bar.

2. As you can see, I opened so many tabs and it would be a big problem if I want to view the site I want to read.

3. Click on TooMany Tabs icon and it will show the preview of all the tabs you have opened along with the website name.

4. You can even search the website you opened in a certain tab by typing the name of the website in the search field and click on Find.

5. You can customize TooMany Tabs#mce_temp_url# as well such as using shortcut key to open the extensions, manage the size of the popup, showing custom columns etc.

In the end, I would suggest all those people who work with too many tabs opened to try this extension. It can save time when you are working with too many tabs opened.

Do you ever found yourself stuck with browser Tab dilemma? Which addon you use to manage your tabs?

Get ready for a less spammy Twitter search

Posted: 21 Mar 2010 03:29 AM PDT

Twitter LogoTwitter's real time search is very useful to find recent updates about a particular topic. Like you can easily find out what's being said about IPL now by searching for the term IPL. But the bad thing about these search results is the number of spam tweets that make our search worthless. There are thousands of bots tweeting affiliate links or promoting their products by including the popular keywords in their tweets. But now Twitter is building a new version of search to make our searches more useful.

Twitter is trying to make the search more useful by highlighting useful and popular tweets at the top of recent search results. With this new feature to search, popular tweets by users will be included to help users get right information about the term they searched on. According to the Twitter team, these new features will be available soon. Twitter team made this announcement on the Twitter API group.

Hi Developers!

The Search team is working on a beta project that returns the most popular tweets for a query, rather than only the most recent tweets. This is a beta project, but an important first step to surface the most popular tweets for users searching Twitter.

The new update will surely help all users and will also improve Trending topics on Twitter. As of now we can't get the right information about any Trending topic, instead we get spammy promotions by automated bots. So just wait for the new update to get right better search results.
