Welcome To Devils Workshop!!!

Welcome To Devils Workshop!!!

Top Indian Blogs ‘Networking’ Together!

When we moved rtCamp to the new office sometime ago in August 2009, we did not anticipate that being a successful wordpress services’ company will put over beloved rtBlogs network on backstage.

As I failed, personally, to give rtBlogs network due time and attention it deserves, we started looking for a new mentor for it. Apart from obvious things like blogging experience and ethics, we were looking for someone who can share our long-term vision of blogging as an industry with us. A person who can see bigger picture in blogging and help more people start blogging seriously. A person who knows Devils Workshop since its early days!

In Mr. Harsh Agrawal, we found everything we were looking for. His commitment to blogging and fellow bloggers is way above our expectation. But still there was one problem! We were looking for someone form Pune, who can work full-time from our Pune office and as many of you know Harsh was from Delhi.

In November, he traveled to Pune with his broken leg and without any concrete proposal from our end. His positive approach, passion to make it big and  willingness to take risk did the trick! He stayed with us for 2-3 days then and moved back to Delhi, just to return to Pune to lead not only rtBlogs but entire sales & marketing division of rtCamp.

Also for the records, he is among early DW contributors with userid #18 which is very less considering few test users I created then. My userid is #9 by the way! ;-)

Today…

We are thrilled to officially announce that rtBlogs network and ShoutMeLoud network, two of India’s top blog networks are coming together to take Indian blogosphere to the next level.

While it has been more than a month that we guys are working together on all our blogs (see list below) and other projects, rather than jumping to announce this big news sometime back in January, we decided to keep it low profile then. We had lengthy discussions and brainstorming sessions and finally convinced that, together, we can take blogging in India to the level where more bloggers can take blogging as full-time profession and earn a decent leaving out of it!

Blogs in our network!

Our blog network as of now have following blogs up and running:

  1. Devils Workshop
  2. ShoutMeLoud
  3. ThemePremium
  4. WpVeda
  5. FacebooKnol
  6. OrkutDiary
  7. Calling All Geeks
  8. Chromoz
  9. CricTalks

We will keep adding more and more blogs to our network. We are also looking for more full-time authors and editors. If you ever thought of turning your blogging passion into a secured profession, you can take a chance by applying for one of India’s rarest full-time blogging job here.

Plans Ahead…

  • Their are many suggestions for new blogs in the pipeline – a design blog by Kannan Sanjeevan, a political blog by Nishant Soni, a blog on affiliate marketing at BloggerAffiliate and many more.
  • Recruitment is going on to bring best and friendly bloggers as full-time editors in our network so that each guest author post get reviewed in less than 24 hours window.
  • Many small web-services are in the pipeline. Our blog readers will have advantage of being the first to use them.
  • Our famous Blogger of The Month contest will be coming back in its new avatar with more blogs and better ranking system.
  • Very soon all ShoutMeLoud and rtBlogs registered users will be able to log-into all blogs in our network using single account.

Let us know what do you feel about this merger and how do you expect our blog network to grow!

Awaiting your feedback and suggestions!

How to get your YouTube account ready for auto captions?

Posted: 07 Mar 2010 10:13 PM PST

YouTube comes up with a lot of innovation from editing your videos online to watching television shows online. Recently YouTube announced recently that all the videos they have will have automatic closed captions enabled. The feature is available with many videos but not all. Apparently YouTube will take a little bit of time to give all the videos captions.

What are automatic closed captions?

Auto captions are captions or subtitles in English being generated automatically by YouTube.  It mixes voice search and speech to text technology to auto generate captions for clear spoken English in the YouTube video.

How to get You Tube auto captions for a viewer?

  • If you want auto captions enabled on your account for viewing videos with captions visit YouTube account settings.
  • Here I needed to click on ‘Playback setting‘ and check show captions. I selected ‘Always show automatic captions‘. This will make sure that all videos I see will have automatic captions.
  • Now when you search for the video results you will see a ‘CC’ next to the results to indicate that it has closed captions enabled.

How to get YouTube auto captions for a uploader?

  • Sign into your account.
  • Here I needed to click on ‘Captions and Subtitles
  • Now here we can see any video for which we can suggest auto captions. I did not see this options as none of my videos generated had spoken words in them.

This means that if you are uploading demos on You Tube, there is no need for you to come up with captions or use subtitles. All you need to do is enable Auto captions. Do pay attention to the English words and a requirement is the speech should be clear.

Well hope this helps DW’s readers who are YouTube addicts and do let me know your opinions through your comments.
