Contracting the virus.

There are various ways to contracting a virus. You don't have to be watching porn either. It's easy to get and hard to get rid of. They are made to steal your personal information such as files and passwords. They annoy you and are even made to spy on others. Most viruses can be handled with this method. Check out these easy steps to virus removal.

Once you got it.

You will definitely know when the computer is infected. Annoying pop-ups to buy products or even naughty girls in your side screen. The PC will start to run slower then ever and some programs will not respond. Your PC will shut down with out you instructing it. The worst symptoms sometimes to no return will be that blue screen of death.

Start the cleanup.

This needs to be done in safe mode. Remove all cookies and cache in your PC. It may be easier to use a clean up scan. Continue to remove all temp files and those prefetch files. You can find the prefetch folder by doing a search within windows or by typing in the run box.

Other unwanted programs.

Now all unwanted and not needed programs can be removed in the add/remove list. This is located in the control panel. Some viruses are attracted with certain downloads of files. This will free up much needed space on your drive. It will also clean out old registry entries and files.

Run an anti-virus scan.

Secondly run a good anti-virus scan. This will work better in safe mode too. At this time leave the computer running only the scan. It will use less resources and get rid of all viruses. Once the scan is finished use the given button to quarantine all files.

Browser Hijack.

When your browser gets hijacked run a Trojan or hijack remover. A good example of one is the smitfraudfix. When its finished running take out everything it found. Its good to reset your browser settings. And don't forget to uninstall unwanted tool bars and pop up blockers. Too many at one time will cancel each other out.

Still have issues?

It may be best for advanced users only to try this part. If the virus is still present you can do a search for it in the windows registry. It will pull up broken or not found links. It is good to remove them here. You can do a search for these files within the hard drive and remove them also. Sift through the msconfig start up files and uncheck items not needed.

Be in the know.

An anti-virus or firewall is somewhat required for a computer to connect to the internet. So many people are out to get your personal data and you need to protect yourself. Remember some good factors in virus removal. Always scan programs or files before downloading to your computer and never run more then one firewall or antivirus program at a time.
