We have seen previous posts on DW about how to download videos from various sources. But sometimes its just the song,lecture or a speech that you want, which you can put into your iPod, music player etc. The following websites provide the free service of converting your favorite non-copyrighted videos into mp3s directly. You can choose what quality to convert into, with respect to the bit rate, and also select the hosting website in some cases.

This site provides mp3 conversion from youtube and also asks its visitors to donate through PayPal , although that is optional. Although it did take more time to provide search results to a particular video or a search term.

Youtube-mp3

The simplest of the lot , it does your job without any hassles, although this works only for youtube videos.

This website offers conversion from yotube and dailymotion. They also provide mozilla firefox and google chrome add-ons. There are standard and high quality options one can choose from, while downloading the required mp3s.

Easy-to-use interface for quick conversion. Videos from Youtube, Google, Yahoo and Flickr can be converted into mp3.

Another cool website which can convert video files from youtube to multiple formats such as mp3, mp4, 3gp, avi, flv etc. This website alos gives you the option of converting your own personal video that you may have recorded on your own, into an mp3.

FireShot – Firefox Extension for Screen Capture and Image Annotation

It is worth to create an image rather than writing hundred of words. Several tools are available for screen capture but only few provides Image Annotation. Sometimes it becomes difficult to Annotate Images. To easily Annotate Images or capture screenshot of any web page, entire or visible we can use FireShot which is a Firefox extension.

FireShot: FireShot is a Firefox extension that captures screenshots of web pages. It provides a set of editing and annotation tools, that makes user smoothly modify web captures and insert text annotations and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web experts, web designers etc.

Install FireShot Addon, restart your browser.
You will find an icon in the status bar or next to the Address bar, click on the icon to capture screenshot.
start editing or annotate your screenshot.
you can also open it in external editor like Photoshop or MS Paint.

You can set your preferences as shown in the below image.

The captures can be:

Saved to disk (PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP)
Printed
Copied to clipboard
E-mailed
Sent to configurable external editor for further processing.

If you closely observe the trend prevalent online these days, it’s definitely all about minimalism. Minimalistic design, minimal work and all this in the least amount of time. If one online activity stood out like a sore thumb with this trend, it would have to be file sharing. We all have been victims of those moments when the file took a century to upload. E-mailing with attachments can be the worst nightmare.

Ge.tt (no I haven’t misspelt it) is aptly named for the function it performs. Its a website which allows you to share files with others easily.

How Ge.tt works:

Once you are at the home page, select the files you want to share.
While your file is being uploaded, a unique URL is generated, which you can share with the receiver. This link will be active for 30 days even if you don’t have an account with Ge.tt.
You may also email the uploaded file to the receiver’s email id from within the Ge.tt page itself accompanied with a note.

You can also view the number of downloads or views your file receives.
