Firefox Extension – Now You Can See The Progress Bar Above Each Tab

Posted: 18 Dec 2010 06:30 PM PST

Here is the Firefox extension that increases tab utility. Usually progress bar appears in the status bar but this add-on integrates the progress bar above the tabs.  Progress Bar Tab is a Firefox extension that enables us to watch the progress meter above each tab when a web page is loading. The benefit of using this add-on is that you can simultaneously watch the progress bar without switching back to the previous tab.

In the below image you can notice the progress meter which is just above the tab and increases as the web page is loaded.

You might have many add-ons installed in your Firefox browser, one thing you should  take care that it is not compatible with Firefox extension "Tab Mix Plus" since it implements a feature rather similar to one of Tab Mix Plus’s.

To arrange these add-ons according to your choice, Firefox has an extension called Organize Status Bar as its name suggest it helps re-arrange add-ons  lied in the status bar of your Firefox browser.

It is useful in case, lets take an example I had the the habit to click at the right-bottom for firebug but when I installed new add-on it took the place of firebug and whenever I wanted to click on the firebug by mistake that new add-on is been clicked everytime. So I searched for an add-on that can organize the status bar icons and I finally found this add-on.

Download and install this add-on.

Option available at menu Tools > Organize status bar.

Open Letter to Google: Please Buy Delicious from Yahoo!

Dear google Open Letter to Google: Please Buy Delicious from Yahoo!Dear Google,

There are many geeks around the world and one thing almost every geek has is an active Delicious account to mark up his favourite webpages. Yes, it is the only online service which is owned by Yahoo and a tech lover actually cares about. Not to forget your own Google Bookmarks is not really making waves.

The worse part is Yahoo seems to want to kill off and get rid of anything that really we are interested in. (We = Tech lovers)

We all know that Yahoo will probably crash and burn bit by bit over the next 5-10 years. Why not salvage some of it and give it the Google treatment. Many services like YouTube, which you acquired, have become iconic names on the internet. Please make sure that Delicious does not crash and burn along with Yahoo or worse get acquired by Facebook and become trivial. icon wink Open Letter to Google: Please Buy Delicious from Yahoo!

Delicious should be cheap!

Considering that Google had plans to shell out $2.5 Billion to buy Twitter, I think acquiring Delicious could be much cheaper. Anywhere around a $100 million should be fine considering Yahoo bought it for around $15-30 million. Also Delicious has around 200 million bookmarks and we all know that the truly important stuff online is bookmarked and not shared on Facebook or Twitter. This might give you amazing access and ideal data to tweak your search engine results a little more to make a real killing.

Yours Truly,

A Delicious User and Google Fan.
