greasemonkey1 Find if a website has a Grease Monkey script availableIf you like social networks, Gmail or just about any site, chances are there is a helpful GreaseMonkey script on it. It would be really nice if while on a website I had a simpler way of looking up a GreaseMonkey script than actually searching for it.

This is where Greasefire Addon is very helpful.

Greasefire Features

  • GreaseFire is a Firefox browser addon. It works only if you have GreaseMonkey installed on your browser. Check out our page on GreaseMonkey to learn more about it.
  • Now once this add-on is installed I can browse normally and click on the GreaseFire icon at the bottom right corner. This shows the number of scripts available with that website.

Google releases an E-book about the Web

Posted: 19 Nov 2010 02:53 AM PST

Remember those days when your Grandmother read out those stories of how ‘HTML 5′ won over the heart of ‘Browsers’, how ‘Privacy Issues’ were the treasure chest which ‘Applications’ stole away – As bizarre as this may sound, that day has come. Google’s most recent development is 20 Things I Learned About The Browsers and the Web which is styled much like an children’s e-book.

20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web Google releases an E book about the Web

As the name suggests, it contains 19 observations about the web and one last chapter as a recap. The book is written by Min Li Chan, Fritz Holznagel and Michael Krantz. There are brilliant illustrations by Christoph Niemann. Once the site loads up, you can disconnect and read the full book.

Its design and wordings are bound to take you down memory lane. What I like the most is that they haven’t forgotten the childrens book theme they have chosen whilst writing the chapters – such as in the chapter about Web Applications, it’s mentioned ‘The four virtues of Web Appiness…’

Why a book on the web?

I think Google probably took note of its video which implies a strong demand for some serious education regarding the dot-com world. Take a look at this video. icon biggrin Google releases an E book about the Web

7 Essential Applications after Fresh Windows Installation

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 11:09 PM PST

After re-formatting our windows computer we get confused or many times forget to install some software applications which we need the most. Here I have complied a list of software which according to me are most widely used in our daily tasks. Although this list may change according to your use, I have listed the most widely used software.

windows appications 7 Essential Applications after Fresh Windows Installation

  1. Drivers : You can install drivers from your motherboard CD or if you want latest drivers for your PC go to the official website of which the motherboard is and download the latest drivers and install them in your PC.
  2. Winrar : The most commonly used tool is Winrar. After installation of fresh copy of Windows, it is a must have tool.
  3. Anti Virus and Firewall : If you want a free antivirus product, I recommend using AVG 11 Free or Avast Home Edition. For a free firewall product, you can go with Commodo Firewall Pro.
  4. Download Manager : There are many download managers out there but one of my favorites is Free Download Manager, alternatively you can also go for Flashget.
  5. Tweaking Software : You must have a Windows tweaking application installed in your system. I use Tuneup Utilities 2009 and if you want a freeware I recommend you to use TweakNow PowerPack.
  6. Internet Browser : No doubt, Firefox still takes the first place. Although it is a personal choice when it comes to browsers. I personally like Chrome.
  7. Pdf Document Viewer : The most commonly used pdf viewer is Adobe Acrobat. If you want a light and easy to use reader than you can try Foxit.

Have I missed any application which you think should be included in the list? Please let me know through comments.
