Create awesome clean photo galleries with Min.us

Minus logo Create awesome clean photo galleries with Min.usMin.us is aptly designed to go with its name. It is a photo sharing software which conforms to a simple equation:

Work + Min.us = Almost No Work. icon razz Create awesome clean photo galleries with Min.us

This application allows you to drag and drop your photos from any folder on your computer to the site in almost no time.

About Min.us

  • There is no need to create an account in order to upload your photos on Min.us. However, if you do create the free account, you will be able to trace back your galleries easily.
  • The account creation keeps up with the minimalist theme of the site asking very little information from the user.

  • Once you have uploaded your pictures in your gallery, 2 URLs will be generated – ‘share’ and ‘edit’.
  • If you want your friends to only view the pictures, then give them the “share” URL, while if you want them to be able to add or delete photographs then provide them the “edit” URL.
  • The maximum file size that you can upload is 7MB per image. Individual galleries can hold about 50 photographs. Min.us plans to soon support document and video sharing apart from the current photo sharing feature.

I love the clean interface which is user-friendly without compromising on the design aspect.

I think Min.us has hit the pulse when it comes to a minimalist photo sharing application considering how much we love sharing our photos. I doubt it will be as big as Flickr but it could certainly carve a niche for itself.

Get Status Bar Calculator on Firefox Browser

browser calculator Get Status Bar Calculator on Firefox BrowserUntil I found this Addon I had used Google to make simple calculations or an electronic calculator. I wanted something that integrates with my browser. icon smile Get Status Bar Calculator on Firefox Browser

I am a designer and need to carry out small calculations and this add-on makes my life a lot easier. Yes there is a calculator on every OS but not leaving the browser is a lot more efficient.

Status Bar Calculator for Firefox

I would rate 10 out 10 to this Mozilla Addon Status-Bar Calculator which is very handy and convenient for quick calculations.

It sits in the corner of  the status bar and you don’t even notice until you need it. It also does not clutter my browser like some other add-on end up doing. icon smile Get Status Bar Calculator on Firefox Browser

For Google Chrome users:

In case you are using Chrome as your primary browser, install Chromey Calculator extension which you can use for calculations.

Sync drafts on Windows Live Writer with LiveMesh

Live Writer Live Mesh Sync drafts on Windows Live Writer with LiveMeshWhen I started my blogging journey, I discovered the real fun of using Windows Live Writer rather late. Since I have started using Live Writer, I have come to the conclusion that it is the best blogging tool ever. Quite a few followers on Devils Workshop do agree at least according to this discussion on our Facebook page. icon smile Sync drafts on Windows Live Writer with LiveMesh

Now came the tricky part. I blog from two different computers. One at home and the other at work. The best option for me was to use Live Mesh to sync up drafts on Windows Live Writer.

Setting up Live Writer and Live Mesh

  • First up you need to have Windows Live Writer and Live Mesh installed on both computers. This is included in the Windows Live essentials package.
  • Considering you have two computers and you are looking to sync up the same software. You might like to take a look at the offline installer for Windows Live Essentials 2011.
  • Now you need to make sure you have admin rights on both computers.
  • Finally sign up to Hotmail and create a Live ID. Any Hotmail email address is a Live ID.

Sync draft folder of Live Writer

  • Live Writer does not allow you to save drafts in a different folder. This means we have to access the folder in which drafts are stored.
  • Open Live Mesh on your computer and log into it. Now look up the draft folder by clicking on ‘Sync a folder‘. Ideally the draft folder will be at this path.

  • Now the draft folder is synced with Live Mesh. Carry out the same procedure with the other computer you are using. This will make sure that all the draft files are synchronized on both computers.

Just a note of caution on using Live Mesh on your work computer. Most times while using work computers, we tend to disable logging into an account automatically. In this case make sure that your are signed into Live Mesh so all files are synced. icon wink Sync drafts on Windows Live Writer with LiveMesh
