Going on vacation can be a time for your family to make new memories, share new experiences and enjoy different destinations. It can also be a time for thieves to strike your home. Don’t update your Facebook status to “away in Paris for a week,” or tweet your photos while you are sitting on the beach. Word can get around pretty quickly and criminals may find out that you are not home. One family announced online that they were going to a relative’s wedding, and when they returned that evening, thieves had broken into their home. Keep your travel plans a secret and wait until you return to give updates.
