When I arrived in the U.S a decade ago, I was not so familiar with the computer yet; Yahoo Messenger and Skype were not part of my life yet. But since I had to keep in touch with my folks back in the Philippines I had to find the most available way to reach them. Thanks to the operator assisted conference call that made it easy to reach them. It was so much fun because it was a once-a-month habit where my family would be together and I get to talk to all of them.

If somebody is unable to make it then he gets to be on the conference call. On their end, it was also their sort of reunion as my parents were already old. They made sure that they get to spend one Sunday at least once a month and it was also my schedule to call them. Before it was only audio conferencing, there were no high-end mobile phones yet that serves as computers these days. It was so expensive to communicate with them then but it was all worth it because of the international conference call access where I got to talk to two or more members of the family at the same time.

Green Fundraising Ideas

There are so many ways that fundraising is done ever since I can remember. But since last year, Kevin's school had been into green fundraising where they asked to sell different products that are organic and environment friendly. I haven't really checked on the products yet, but I am supporting him and their school on this.

I just like these green fundraising ideas their school has come up with. Isn't it time for us to be taking care of Mother Earth? This is also a great way in making them aware of how we should be protecting our environment. But aside from being taught in school to be environment-friendly, I have also been trying slowly to live the organic way. It is hard, but thanks to so many shops and stores offerings cheaper stuff that are not harmful to the environment. I hope that green fundraising will be in forever because we should never stop supporting products that are safe to use to humans and to our planet.

How about you, how are your children's schools doing their fundraising campaigns? I hope they're also into this environment-friendly products. Last time they were into selling nice eco-bags, but this time, he told me that it will be more on organic food. Wow, I can't wait to have my healthy stuff.

I have learned about a group of women who is taking the initiative to launch projects that will help other women the community. They are aware that in some communities, some women lack knowledge about womens fitness. In these places, women's health is not given their due importance. It would seem that it is not a priority. This generous and concerned group of women conduct seminars that women can attend for free. Different areas of women's health are discussed as pregnancy information.

There are sadly a number of pregnant women who are misinformed. They follow traditional practices that have no proven basis. This is dangerous since it may pose a threat that they may not easily recognize. It may also be harmful to the health of their unborn child. They make these women understand that they should also prioritize their health. They perform various roles in their family which is why it is important that they maintain a healthy body.

These free pregnancy advice seminars are mostly held in underprivileged communities. This concerned group of women who conduct these seminars bring with them experts in health and nutrition as well as some medical doctors. In case there will be questions about womens health, they can have the experts answer them.
