[HowTo] Get Foursquare Username of Your Choice Posted: 28 Jan 2011 07:00 PM PST If you have joined Foursquare, and wondering how to replace that random number in your profile URL, this article can help you out. By default, when you join Foursquare you get a profile URL like this - http://foursquare.com/user/1466683 How to change it to something like this ? – http://foursquare.com/rahul286 Its very simple actually. Go to the Foursquare Settings page and scroll down to find “Linked Accounts” section. Next, link your Twitter account with your Foursquare account and your Foursquare username will be set equal to Twitter username. (see screenshot below) This may sound a bit weird but this is the only way out. If you do not have a twitter account, you will need to create one in order to get a foursquare username! Also, be careful as you cannot change your Foursquare username, even if you change the linked twitter account later-on! Link: Catch me on Foursquare Related posts:

Shared Spaces: Great way to collaborate with friends on Google Posted: 28 Jan 2011 08:45 AM PST If you have ever tried out Google Wave gadgets, you might not need much explanation from me on this topic. Google Shared spaces is a nice application which lets you enable more than 50 gadgets under your Space and share it with anyone across the Web using a Google tiny URL through Email, Twitter or simply posting it on chat. Your friends can use this URL to join you and enable the same gadget you are using to share the workspace online and collaborate in real-time. Okay, now let me tell you all this in some simple language.
I found out that there is even an official Chrome extension available for Shared Spaces. I am including a video here for you so that you understand it better. Don't you think it's a nice Lab application? Let me know what you feel on such Google apps which never come into limelight! Egypt disconnects from the internet and world Posted: 27 Jan 2011 11:24 PM PST After the turmoil in Tunisia where popular revolt had over-thrown the current government, it seems the protests seem to have inspired people in Egypt. This Egyptian people have used Twitter, Facebook and other mediums on the internet to protest against their current government headed by Hosni Mubarak. There has been a sporadic control of the internet in Egypt but the protests seemed to not have quieted down. Today a few hours ago, the Egyptian government has not only blocked Facebook, Twitter and other popular websites to communicate but also completed shut-down the internet. This is quite unprecedented in a country the size of Egypt. There are some countries where internet is heavily monitored or censored but I have never heard of a country which shut down its internet completely. I am against any kind of banning or shutting down of internet as I think it finally can never deal with the main issue which has its roots in politics. Do you think that it is okay for countries to have a complete shutdown of internet even if there is trouble in the country? Do drop in your comments. Source: CNN Related posts:

Share photos and files with Min.us from your desktop [Software] Posted: 27 Jan 2011 09:40 PM PST You might be aware of Min.us a website which allows people to share photos and files online without any need for an account. One reason I am a fan of Min.us is because it also allows creating online image galleries and sharing them instantly. Flickr is a great website too but I like Min.us for its lightweight feel, quick and simple layout. Most times I have photos stored on my desktop. I guess sometimes I am a little lazy to open a browser and open min.us to share files. Min.us now has a desktop tool which allows simply dragging and dropping a file and sharing it on their website. It also shows you a URL where the file is stored and you can share with anyone.
If you are someone who keeps sharing images online with friends and family, Min.us Desktop is more than useful. Do try it out and let me know your views through in comments. Link: Download Minus for Desktop Related posts:
