How to use Gmail with tablet interface using Chrome browser [Video] Posted: 06 Apr 2010 09:00 PM PDT Earlier in the week Google had announced a touch screen friendly interface for Gmail. This was obviously done with an eye towards making Gmail more accessible for i-Pad users. It has been actually created for the i-Phone and i-Pod touch screen interfaces but it should work for i-Pad. After all it is rumored that the iPad is a oversized iPod Touch. There is a hack to view such websites including Gmail in its i-Pad friendly format. Here is how Gmail should look like with the hack. How to get Tablet friendly interface of Gmail with Chrome Browser
Here is a video demo of how I worked with Chorme and got iPad friendly Gmail interface on a laptop with Windows 7. Do try it out the tablet interface for Gmail and let me know what you think about it. I do not think it is of great use for everyday use but might be useful for computer with very large screens. Add Background Image in Microsoft Excel Worksheet Posted: 06 Apr 2010 10:00 AM PDT When creating any project or report in Microsoft Excel, the presentation plays an important role. When you have to submit your report to any senior or even your professor, you should focus on how the data is presented. You can add a background color or a simple background image which you think is suitable.
If you want to add background image in Microsoft Excel, follow the simple steps shown below. 1. Open Microsoft Excel 2007. You can either open the worksheet in which you want to add the background image or start with a new worksheet. 2. Now go to Page Layout > Backgrounds. 3. Click on Backgrounds browse the file which you want to use as the background. Note: I used Microsoft Excel 2007 for this tutorial. But this will work with Microsoft Excel 2010 as well. If you found this useful you might also like reading about how to add windows calculator with MS Excels Quick Access toolbar. Billingmanager: Create free online Invoice Posted: 06 Apr 2010 07:44 AM PDT I am not (and I was never) good in writing accounts. I do not understand terms used by Chartered Accountants as terms used by them are difficult to remember. That is the reason – I was looking for a system where I can quickly generate, store, e-mail, print, share, get the revenue overview, manage my Invoices & Estimates. There were many issues with offline installations. After trying & tiring, I shifted my focus from offline software to online, open source scripts! There were few minor issues for me with these too! For example: security of my server, database maintenance and, etc. Then while on Google, I found out that there are ready to use billing managers available. I was lit up & began exploring one-by-one. After fairly a lot of fact findings & adding trial invoices with all those systems, I zeroed down to this Billing Manager. Co-incidentally two days back one my friends who is a Photographer called me up asking, he was looking for an invoicing software. While I was narrating him the details I thought of sharing it with all of you here. I won’t stick to this particular system for life, but certainly I am going use it until I can buy my own customized paid software. I have explored it for about seven days now & finding it very handy. It has some very exciting features, which are required by a basic user like me. It seems like I am on to organize billing data in a better way, and stop worrying about hard disk crashes, etc. I will quickly share key features now, which are a must-have for non accountant like me:) 1. Easy Interface with simple familiar terms to grasp Here are a few screen shots of Billing Manager. If you’re really interested, then I have a suggestion. You sign-up & test it yourself to see what all you can do with it. It works on low bandwidth & it can be accessed on an iPhone. If you like it, let me know. If you don’t like it, then It’s not me who formulated this module. And just in case you’re already using any such billing system, then do let me know. I would like to give it a try! Is Google Buzz admitting that it goofed up the first time? Posted: 06 Apr 2010 02:05 AM PDT Google Buzz has been covered over many blogs with many web articles being published on various tools and strategies to be employed on using Buzz. We at Devils’ Workshop have also had many posts on Google Buzz about its general updates to its settings to desktop applications for using Buzz. A few times I have even wondered aloud if Google was better of buying Twitter instead of coming up with Buzz. Now the latest on the Google Buzz page is a new settings update which prompt the user by default to confirm if the settings they have on Google Buzz are fine with them. Below is a screen shot of how it looked for my Buzz profile. I think Buzz has got a lot of bad publicity for it’s settings regarding privacy and this is the first instance when Google Buzz admits it got things wrong. A lot of people did not like their email contacts becoming Buzz contacts and that was where Buzz started to get it wrong. Having your email contacts out in the open was not desirable for many who might be using a single Gmail account for professional and personal work. I think it was fair to wonder why did Buzz never stay in Beta and was released with such haste? I think Google is now realizing its mistake with Google Buzz and has created this new update of confirming Buzz settings as repair work. What do you think? Do you think this is an admission of Google saying they goofed up? Do drop in your comments. Grab .com domain name from Ilovethisdomain.
