Several years ago, I purchased Marketing Plan Pro 6 to help me create a marketing plan for my employer. The software was compehensive, but the training materials were lousy and there was no simple way to get started. I basically used it one time, and after investing about 100 hours into it, found it to be too cumbersome to go back to the software.

Now, I just started with a new company, and with no previous marketing plan to work with, I needed to get some software again. Although skeptical, I chose to give Marketing Plan Pro 11 a shot, and I am quite happy I did. The software is still not perfect ... but the training materials and quick start capabilities make all the difference in the world. Not only am I almost done with my marketing plan, I am making 3 versions (one for each of our business units). To date, I have about 12 hours invested.

For future versions, I would like to recommend Palo Alto create a version that allows a couple of users to collaborate on the same marketing plan, because I am subbing some research tasks out, and I want my staff to "take ownership" of the plan and get into it, rather than having this be a top down initiative.
